About

Where to Sled started with a simple annoyance: every winter, the same question about where to sled gets asked in local groups, and the answers are a mix of half-remembered spots and parks where sledding was banned years ago.

So this site lists 472 hills in 57 metro areas, and every single one links to where we found it.

How hills get on the list

We read city, county and park district pages first. If the land manager lists a spot for sledding, we mark it Official (251 hills right now). If only a newspaper, tourism office or family guide names it, we mark it Used locally (221 hills). We don't add hills from memory, from map labels alone, or from guesses.

What we don't do

We don't rate or review hills, we don't inspect them, and we don't run them. If a source doesn't give a fact, like whether there are lights, the page says "not stated by source" instead of guessing.

Map pins

Pins come from OpenStreetMap's Nominatim search on the listed park name or address. They mark the park, not the exact slope.
