Terms of use

Last updated October 28, 2026

These terms cover your use of wheretosled.com. By using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

What this site is

Where to Sled is a free, independent directory of places people sled, built from public sources. It is general information only. It isn't professional, medical or legal advice, and it doesn't give you permission to enter any property.

Assumption of risk

Sledding is risky and can cause serious injury or death. You decide whether, where and how to sled, and you are responsible for yourself and anyone in your care. By using the site, you accept all risks of visiting and using any place listed here. Read the full disclaimer.

No warranty

The site is provided "as is" and "as available." We don't promise that listings are accurate, complete or current, that a hill is open or allows sledding, or that the site will be free of errors or interruptions. To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Where to Sled and its owner are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any personal injury, death or property damage, connected to the site or any place listed on it. Where liability can't be excluded, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to $50.

Indemnity

If you misuse the site or break these terms and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable costs from that claim.

Acceptable use

Please don't scrape the site in a way that slows it down, try to break or overload it, or copy it wholesale to republish. Quoting short bits with a link back is fine.

Content and ownership

Hill facts come from the linked sources, and those sources own their content. Our own text, design, logo and compilation belong to Where to Sled. Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors under the ODbL. ZIP data comes from the U.S. Census Bureau. Photos on the site are illustrative AI images, not the listed hills.

Third-party links

We link to park agencies, cities, news outlets, maps and stores. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, accuracy, policies or practices. Some store links are affiliate links; as an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.

Corrections and removals

If a listing is wrong, or you own or manage the land and want it removed, use the corrections page or email hello@wheretosled.com. Removal requests from owners and land managers go first, and we usually act within a few business days.

Copyright complaints (DMCA)

If you believe something on this site infringes your copyright, email hello@wheretosled.com with "DMCA" in the subject and include: your contact details; the work you say is infringed; the URL of the material on our site; a statement that you have a good faith belief the use isn't authorized by the owner, its agent or the law; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner; and your physical or electronic signature. If we remove material and you believe that was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice to the same address. We may remove content from repeat infringers.

Changes

We may update listings and these terms at any time. The date at the top shows the latest version. Using the site after a change means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute about the site or these terms will be handled in the state or federal courts located in California, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.

General

If any part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a term isn't a waiver of it. These terms are the whole agreement between you and us about the site.
